Dear reader reader

ALERT: Polk County Commission Public Hearing on Environmental Lands and Water Resources Referendum

WHAT: The Polk County Board of County Commissioners will be voting on language calling for a referendum on November 8, 2022, that would provide new funding for Polk’s Environmental Lands Program

WHEN: Tuesday, July 5, at 9:30 AM

WHERE: Polk County Administration Building
330 West Church Street
Bartow, FL

WHY: 1) We urge the Commission to go forward with the original language of the November 8 ballot as it was published in the June 17, 2022 Public Notice and in accordance with the Commission’s vote on March 15 directing the preparation of the ordinance: 0.02 mill ad valorem tax for 20 years for THE ACQUISITION, PRESERVATION, PROTECTION, MANAGEMENT, OPERATION AND RESTORATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL LANDS, WATER RESOURCES AND IMPORTANT FISH AND WILDLIFE HABITAT.

WHY: 2) We do not support the last-minute addition to the ordinance that would allow the referendum to proceed involving historic preservation.

Attendees should arrive at 9:00 AM and are asked to wear green shirts (if you have one) to show their support.

Please share this widely with family, friends and neighbors that support the Environmental Lands Program!
